Watching out for fraud

Watch out for these email cons

Phishing emails are becoming more and more common. Phishing happens when fraudsters impersonate a well established financial organisation.

The fraudsters send false emails, designed to trick people into revealing their personal details.

We never ask for your details

BM Savings will never ask you to send your personal details by email. And we'll never send an email that asks you to login to update your personal information.

If you receive a phishing email, don't click on any links it contains - even if it says you need to take immediate action. Delete the email right away, without opening it or any attachments.

Trojans and spyware

Trojans and spyware are malicious software programmes that can be downloaded without you knowing. They record information about your computer activity, and can be used by hackers to capture your login information.

An up-to-date antivirus programme is essential to detect trojans before they harm your computer. There are a number of free and commercial software programmes that claim to be able to remove these threats from your computer.

If you're suspicious

If you're ever concerned about any suspicious activity on your account, call us as soon as possible on 0845 602 2828. Lines are open 8am - 8pm Monday - Saturday. Alternatively, email us at abuse@birminghammidshires.co.uk.

Bank safe online

For more information and a step by step guide to staying safe online, visit bank safe online a website operated on behalf of the UK banking industry.

Gross is the contractual rate of interest payable before the deduction of income tax at the rate specified by law.

*AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once each year. As every advertisement for a savings product which quotes an interest rate will contain an AER, you will be able to compare more easily what return you can expect from your savings over time.

NET rates are illustrative only, allowing for the deduction of income tax at 20%. If you are a higher rate tax payer, you may have a further amount to pay. If we deduct more tax than you have to pay this can be reclaimed from HMRC.

Tax Free means free from personal liability to Income Tax.

For telephone line opening times, please read the information in our contact section. Calls may be monitored and recorded for security and training purposes. If you're calling from outside the UK, please dial +442920781145.
